Artist Bio

Denver-based painter Tyree Jones-Evans creates poignant portraits that utilize her expertise in color theory and human expression. While her primary discipline is oil painting, her work veers toward a multidisciplinary practice, as she occasionally includes photography, illustration, and collage. She is inspired by light and how it manipulates mood.

Her love for color, light, and expression is fundamental, and it continues to unlock potential for different representations within her work. She believes these three visual elements can communicate universally, which enables a deeper exploration of what can be conveyed through a portrait. She is a current resident at RedLine Gallery for the 2024-2026 cohort. She has had work displayed in CVA Gallery, Niza Knoll Gallery, RedLine Contemporary Art Center, and has been featured on CPR, 9News, Denverse Magazine, Denver Westword, and other publications for her work.
