Artist Bio

Tyree Jones is a painter and photographer who lives and works out of Denver, Colorado. Although her primary disciplines are painting and photography, she tends to work multi-disciplinary and enjoys occasionally including video or drawing in her works as well.

She grew up during the technological boom, and watched how the ability to digest too much information both negatively and positively impacted her generation. Through her use of portraiture, she explores the obscure reality of the black diaspora, how it is exemplified through technology, and how that looks on herself and on her community members. She explores ideas of overwhelm, unity, identity loss, and activism that co-exist naturally with black Americans.

She has had work displayed in CVA Gallery in Denver, Colorado and in the Valdosta State gallery in Valdosta, Georgia where it is digitally archived. She has mentored students in the Denver public school system and has spoken to Boulder’s Future Leaders of America about her work along with other members of Denver’s artistic community.
